Day 13 - Other Singapore Items of Note

Ok...got it.
Chewing gum is banned.  $500 fine for spitting.  $1000 for smoking indoors.  $5000 for littering.  Caning for graffiti.  Death for drugs.  Maybe Singapore is on to something.

A mad scientist created this dessert.
Who invented this thing?  How did it happen?  This is how it would have gone with me involved.

Other guy: OK, let's start with shaved ice and add flavors.
Me: OK, like a snow cone.  Sounds good.
Other guy: Let's use corn, rose, and cotton candy.
Me: Uh...what?  Like a vegetable, a flower, and a state fair treat?
Other guy: Yeah, but let's make the cotton candy green so the dessert looks prettier.
Me: OK, I guess.  Sweet corn makes sense.  Cotton candy would be OK.  Rose...well, if you want.
Other guy: Cool.  Then let's add real corn on top!
Me: Why?  Isn't corn flavoring enough?
Other guy: And then we'll add beans!
Me: Beans? Huh?
Other And then we'll pour milk on top like it's a bowl and cereal!
Me: Or we could just leave it as a shaved ice?
Other guy: And then at the bottom we'll throw in chunks of black jello!
Me: OK, you're on your own.  Good luck with that.

Not so pretty now, is it?
I guess they never considered what color occurs when they mix together.  Notice the black jello chunks.

Also, one more thing out of Bangkok.

A/C only.
If you zoom in on that picture, you'll notice that the temperature control in the taxi only allows for A/C.  The car does not come with a heater.  It makes sense in Thailand, but I was still a little surprised.  A/C is an entire additional unit which adds expense.  Does it add expense to route the heat from the engine into the cabin?  Maybe it does, but now you can't export the car to other places.  Interesting thing to note.
